FOOTBALL PARENT’S CLUB MEETING

APRIL 18, 2007 – 6:30 pm

CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL OUTDOOR LOCKER FACILITY

The meeting was called to order by President, Brad Riley.

WEBSITE:  Brad stated that we are trying to keep everything updated on the CG football website, www.centergrovefootbal.com.  If you visit the site and see anything that needs to be changed or updated, please let our webmaster, Jeff Hemmer, know at jdhemmer@yahoo.com.

MEETINGS:  Brad stated the Parents Club would try and utilize the class reps more with recruiting rather than taking time out of the meeting.   The goal is to keep the meetings from running too long.

BUDGET:  Cindy Adams, Treasurer, went over the financial statement.    Feel free to let Cindy know if you see any discrepancies or have any questions.

PIZZA SALES:   Kim Garner, chairperson, reported we are approximately 250 pizzas short of what we sold last year!  Please try and turn in your orders by this weekend, with a deadline of Monday, April 23rd.  Kim Garner prefers email orders, if possible kim.garner@aes.com.  Pizza orders will be made and ready for pick up on Saturday, April 28.

DISCOUNT CARDS:  Cindy Adams reported discount card money is due May 11.  Money can be turned in to Coach Harbin, Mallory or placed in the lockbox located outside Coach Moore’s office.  Middle School Central players can turn in money to Coach Mallory, and for Middle School North, current 8th graders, money can be turned in to Ellen Huddleston in the attendance office.   Checks should be made payable to CGABC.  A letter should have accompanied the discount cards outlining how much money you should expect to pay over the season for equipment and food, and other pertinent information.  If you need a copy, please see Cindy Adams.

PHYSICALS – high school physicals will be held at Center Grove high school on Thursday, May 10.  Cost is $20.  You need to sign-up and prepay in the Athletic Office.  Forms can be found in the Athletic Office or at ihsaa.org.

COACH MOORE:  Coach Moore discussed how the Character Group meetings were going.  In general, meetings are going well; however, Coach Moore is a little disappointed with attendance and hopes numbers will increase.    Reminder that these meetings are not mandatory, but everyone is welcome to attend.

The Profile Groups have been established and each coach has a group of players they will be meeting with.

Class Meetings:  Coach announced class meeting times have been set.  These meetings are for players and their parents as follows:

FRESHMEN:  Tuesday, May 15th @ 7pm

SOPHOMORES:  Wednesday, May 23rd @ 7pm

JUNIORS: Wednesday, April 25th @ 7pm

SENIORS:  Wednesday, May 2nd @ 7pm

All meetings will be held in the outdoor locker facility.

Weight Lifting Competition:  Coach Moore talked about a group of boys from Center Grove that will be participating in a national high school weight lifting competition at Calvary Academy in northern Indiana.  Coach will be taking 20 boys.  A motion was made, seconded and passed that the Parents Club would pay for a t-shirt & a pair of shorts for each participant.  Cost should run approximately $15 per participant.

Camps:  Coach Moore has decided to participate in the IU Football Camp on June 10th – 12th.  This is not mandatory.  Boys would go down Sunday, June 10th and return Tuesday evening, June 12th.   Camp will be for Sophomores/Juniors/Seniors and is optional for Freshmen.  Cost is $235 per player.  Please see Coach if you need to discuss financial assistance.

Ball State also has a camp on June 3, $45.  This is not mandatory.  This camp is a great opportunity for players to get their name & face in front of college coaches.

Coach stated players would not be attending the IU 7 on 7 camp originally on the calendar for June 9th.

Football Shoes:  Coach discussed Nike has offered CG a good deal if everyone buys shoes from them at the same time.  Coach will get forms out, and we will send a reminder out once a date and time are established.

Summer Football:  Over the summer, Coach will have Tuesday & Friday night football from 6-8:30pm.

Prom:  Keep an eye on the boys!  Don’t assume anything!

Players Council:  Coach Moore is currently picking a Players Council based on coach’s opinions and based on a survey players are currently taking.  This council will attend Parents Club meetings and be a liaison between the coaching staff and team.

Next meeting tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 pm.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Ellen Huddleston, Secretary
