FOOTBALL PARENT’S CLUB MEETING
MARCH 1, 2007 – 6:30 pm
CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL OUTDOOR LOCKER FACILITY
The meeting was called to order by President, Brad Riley.
PURPOSE: Brad started the meeting by explaining the purpose of the Parent’s Club. He stated initially the group would meet 1 time per month until the football season starts, and then the group would meet once per week. The purpose of the club is to support Center Grove football, primarily at the high school level. The group supports the coaches and the football program. It is the goal of the group to share information not always communicated by the players to their parents. The group is here to volunteer and serve.
OFFICERS: Brad introduced officers in attendance. Parent’s Club officers are listed on the football website: www.centergrovefootball.com.
BUDGET: Cindy Adams, Treasurer, reviewed the 2007 budget. A motion was made and seconded to accept the budget as proposed. Motion passed.
SUPERINTENDANT UPDATE: Per Mark Dietel, the corporation has a total of 8 good candidates and they hope to make a selection by the end of next week.
CALENDAR: A calendar was prepared and distributed outlining upcoming events. All players will receive discount cards on or around March 21 (before Spring Break). Other important events will be:
SOS Skills Camp: Week of April 16th
Spring Pizza Sale: April 28th (mailer to go out right after Spring Break)
High School Physicals: May 10th
9th Grade Pad Camp: June 4th – 7th

HS Team Camp: June 25th – 28th
Moratorium Week: July 1st – July 8th

The Parent’s Club goal is to have each family work two fundraisers throughout the season. A sign-up sheet went around for volunteers to sign-up for committees.
SCHOLARSHIP: Terrie Hedeen reported that current seniors are eligible to apply for scholarships. Senior football students can see either Kathy Buckingham in the Guidance Office or applications are available on the website, www.centergrovefootball.com . $1000 available from Parent’s Club, and $1000 available from bantam football league. Deadline for application is April 18th. Selections made by May 1st.
COACH MOORE: Coach Moore spoke about what the Parent’s Club is all about. Meetings should be a place of enjoyment and an opportunity to be with friends. He also discussed the formation of a Player’s Council which will consist of 2-3 players, per grade, who will meet with the coaches and keep them informed of the “pulse” of the players. Other programs coach discussed:
Character Program: Each coach will be assigned a different grade level of players to meet with (ie: Coach Moore met with seniors this Wednesday before school). This is not a mandatory program, but it will be offered to all players. Sessions usually last for 30 minutes.
Player Profile Group: The coaching staff is assigned to specific players. Coaches gather information which is put into a computer database for the coaches to have access to. This, Coach Moore feels, will be a good way for the coaching staff to better communicate with the boys and get to know them better.
Work Out Times: Coach Moore discussed the after-school workout sessions currently in place. They are currently not doing morning workouts. Coach feels like the afternoons are working much better as the boys seem to be accomplishing twice as much. The after school workouts will continue and the incoming freshman students are free to come over after school and work out with the upper classmen. Workout days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, and end around 5pm each day.
Summer Schedule: Please note on the calendar the summer schedule begins at 8am this season. 8am will be for weights and 9:30am running/speed improvement. A summer calendar was provided at the meeting, and will be put on the website.
Camps: Coaches have decided not to go to any college camps this summer. Players are welcome to go to camps on their own, but Coach Moore will not request players attend camps as a group like they have in the past. There will be an opportunity for players to participate in the SOS Football Skills Camp, primarily for QBs/Receivers, but expanding to include linemen. Center Grove High School will host 4 Monday night sessions: April 16, April 23, April 30 & May 7 from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. Please refer to the website for specific information: www.sosfootballcamp.com
Brad Riley stated another meeting may be scheduled before Spring Break. Once determined, an email will be sent out with a meeting date.
Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Ellen Huddleston, Secretary
