High School Coaches

Coach Eric J. Moore

Eric Moore is entering his 25th year of being the Head Coach of Center Grove Football program. Before coming to Center Grove, he was the head man at Charlotte High School in Florida where he was twice named “Coach of the Year.”   His record overall is 284 -79.  Here at CG, he has earned a record of 236 - 74.  Coach Moore was the Indiana 2023 North/South All-Star Head Coach.  In addition, he was the
Indiana Football Coach of the Year in 2000, 2008, 2015, 2019, 2020 and 2022.. Coach Moore was the 2020 All American Bowl National Coach of the Year and is one of 3 finalists for the NFL High School Coach of the Year across the USA. Lastly, in 2021 Coach Eric Moore was inducted in to the Indiana High School Football Hall of Fame.
2022 was another excellent year, as he led the Trojans to their 5th State Championship.  This was the Trojans 3rd State Championship in a row – 2022, 2021 and 2020 - culminating once again with a National Ranking.  Coach Moore just retired as the Head Track Coach at the end of the 2023 season after 24 seasons.  The 2023 track team is coming off an 8th place finish in the State of Indiana. It also stretched his streak of having at least one trackster on the podium at the State Meet every year he coached.  Moore graduated from Indiana University where he played football under Head Coaches Corso, Wyche, and Mallory. He credits a lot of his philosophy to Bill Mallory.  In all, he has coached over 200 athletes that have gone on to earn D-1 scholarships. His athletes have historically been strong students and are mainstays being named All MIC -Academic Honorees.  Players have gone on to attend top academic institutions like Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, West Point, Air Force, Tennessee, Ohio State, Vanderbilt to name a few.
He feels that the Center Grove Community is his family.  Coach is married to Brandy and he is proudest of his 5 children. His son, Tyson, is the Head Football Coach at Seymour HS. His daughter, Hannah, is the Cheer Coach at Columbus East HS and an elementary education teacher. Jackson is a barber and helps coach the travel team at Center Grove Bantam. Hayden is entering her sophomore year at Ball State
University and the youngest daughter Sydney will be a junior. This season hopes to be another successful year. It should be an experienced team with a lot of talent. Regardless, Coach Moore always sends them to the field with this quote, “I love you guys and I’m proud to be your Coach”


Troy Dice, Assistant Varsity Coach, O-Line/Tight Ends

Coach Dice has been coaching for 24 years - 3 at West Lafayette High School, 3 at Shelbyville High School and this will be his 18th year with Center Grove High School.  He has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from Purdue University and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Ball State University. He is currently a Math teacher at CGHS, teaching Honors Algebra II, AP Calculus and Global Campus Algebra I. He and his wife Jennifer (the Choir Director at CGHS) have an 8th grade daughter named Tessa and 4th grade daughter named Maddox. Outside of coaching and teaching, he is an active member at Mount Pleasant Christian Church and Christ Youth Bible Club. He enjoys snow skiing and swimming with his family.


Brad Timmons, Varsity/JV Running Backs Coach

Coach Timmons enters his 25th year coaching football – 23 under Coach Moore at Center Grove High School.  He came to Center Grove from Wabash College where he was a four year member of their football team.  He is also a member of the social studies department at Center Grove where he teaches AP Psychology, Psychology, and US History.  Coach Timmons also serves as an assistant on the boys track and field team specializing in short sprints and relays.  Brad is married to Michelle and they have two children – twins Cade and Ella (age 15).  


Joe Siderewicz, Varsity QBs and Receivers Coach

Coach Joe Siderewicz is starting his 38th year as a high school football coach.  He coached as an assistant and Offensive Coordinator for 14 years at Martinsville High School before becoming the Head Coach for 7 years. While at Martinsville he coached 2 Mr. Football’s and was named “Coach of the Year” in 2001. Coach Siderewicz came to Center Grove in 2007 and has been working with the QBs and Receivers for the past 17 seasons.  Coach Siderewicz was inducted in to the Indiana Football Hall of Fame this year.  He is also a History and Sociology teacher here at Center Grove High School.

Joe and his wife Lisa have two children. Lisa currently teaches 6th grade in Martinsville and has been an educator for 34 years. Son Joey (26) was the QB of the 2015 CG Trojan team that went undefeated and won the State Championship. Joey currently is a teacher at CGMS and varsity assistant football coach at Center Grove High School. His daughter Lacey (25) which graduated from Center Grove in 2016, works for Salesforce.

When he is not coaching or teaching, he enjoys watching and attending college and NFL football games. He is a big fan of Indy Car racing as well.  Coach Siderewicz also likes to spend much of his free time with his wife Lisa and enjoys all different types of music.

 


Ryan Spoonmore, Varsity Wide Receivers and Special Teams Coach

Coach Spoonmore ("Spoon") has coached at CGHS for 22 years. He has coached for a total of 28 years, including at Fern Creek, Perry Meridian and Greencastle high schools. He is currently a Social Studies teach at CGHS.  Ryan and his wife Beth have been married for 17 years.  They have two children, Harper who is 13 and Lincoln who is 10.  Outside of coaching and teaching, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking, golfing and wood working.

 


KEVIN HUTCHINS - OFFENSIVE LINE COACH

Kevin Hutchins will be starting his 5th season as an offensive line coach for the Center Grove Trojans (23rdd overall).  Kevin spent 18 years as a head coach.  Some of the highlights of his time as a head coach include 2015 2A State Championship, 2009 2A State runner up, 4 regional Championships, 4 Sectional Championships and being named the Indiana Football Digest 2A Coach of the year 2009. Coach Hutchins was also named the WCC, Indianapolis Star Super Team, and Indianapolis Star West Coach of the year in 2009.  2016 Indiana North/South All-Star assistant coach.  Coach Hutchins’ previous coaching stops include Monrovia High School, Mooresville High School, T.C. Howe Academy, and Kankakee High School (IL.).  Kevin Hutchins holds a B.S. from Olivet Nazarene University (2001) and a Master’s Degree from Ball State University (2011).  While attending Olivet Nazarene, Coach Hutchins was a member of the NAIA Runner-Up National Championship Team 1998 and Victory Bowl Champions 1997. Hutchins was a four year letter winner.  Coach Hutchins Is married to his wife Sarah of 21 years and has two son’s Payton (18) and Parker (15).


Joey Siderewicz, Varsity Slots & Tight Ends

Coach Siderewicz is starting his 4th year coaching high football and his 2nd at Center Grove.  He spent 2 seasons at Zionsville as the wide receivers coach prior to joining the staff at CG.  In both of those seasons, Zionsville finished as the class 5A State Runner Up. Coach Siderewicz will also be teaching Physical Education at CGMSC and CGMSN.  His wife Livia works for Arbor Homes. Joining the Center Grove football program and Center Grove schools is incredibly special as Coach Siderewicz is a 2016  graduate and a member of the undefeated 2015 state championship team.

Outside of football, he enjoys spending time with family, golfing, and watching Indycar.


Chad Daniels, Varsity Defensive Coordinator

Coach Daniels has coached and taught at CG since 2005.  He has served as the team's Defensive Coordinator since 2013.  When not coaching the Trojans, Coach Daniels enjoys spending time with his family: wife Sarah, and three kids, Cash, Coral, and Cecilia.


Nick Lyon, Varsity Defensive Line Coach

Coach Lyon is entering his 18th year teaching and coaching at Center Grove High School.  Coach Lyon is a 2002 CGHS graduate where he played football and ran track for Coach Moore.  Coach Lyon earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from Indiana University, his master's degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and is Dual Credit Credentialed in mathematics.  He is an adjunct professor for Indiana University and Vincennes University .  Coach Lyon teaches VU College Algebra, VU College Trigonometry, VU Quantitative Reasoning, IU Finite, and Global Campus Algebra at Center Grove.  Coach Lyon is a member of Indiana Football Coaches Association.  He and his wife, Jess, have two daughters - Abby, age 13 and Emma, age 10.  He loves spending time with his family, traveling, coaching his daughter's sports teams, and exercising. 


Ed Brickley, Varsity Defensive Quality Control Coach

Coach Brickley is entering his 5th season with the CGHS football program. His first three seasons were spent as the Freshman Football Defensive Coordinator. He was a 1987 graduate from Southport High School and recently retired after a thirty-year career at the Indianapolis Police Department. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as being on the Board of Directors at Center Grove Bantam Football. Coach Brickley and his wife, Maria, have three sons – Antonio 36, Eddie 28, and Patrick 23. They also have two grandchildren – Nash 11, and Navy 5.


Kevin Dietel, Varsity Linebackers Coach

Coach Dietel is entering his 12th season with the CGHS football program.  He is a graduate of CGHS, Class of 2003. He played linebacker at the University of Indianapolis, Class of 2007, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration in Finance.  He is currently the Income Tax and Insurance Manager at Calumet Specialty Products Partners LP. Coach Dietel and his wife Gwynne have four children – Grace, 15, Jaidyn, 14, Everly, 3, Ketch, 1.  When he is not coaching, Coach Dietel enjoys fishing, hiking, and cycling.

 

 


Brian Harbin, Varsity Cornerbacks Coach

Coach Harbin is entering his 17th season of coaching at CGHS. He has coached for a total of 25 years: Center Grove High School (1999-2007, assistant head coach/defensive coordinator) Franklin Central High School (2008 - head football coach) Franklin Community High School (2009-2012-head football coach) Franklin College (2013-2015- defensive coordinator) Center Grove High School (2016-present). He has a Masters in Education and School Administration. He is currently a Dean of Students at Custer Baker Intermediate School. He played Wide Receiver at Franklin College from 1995 - 1998. He has two children - Brant, 19 and Kenna, 16. When he is not coaching or teaching, he likes spending time with his kids, watching movies, golf, fishing and outdoor activities. 


Thomas P. Blanck, Varsity Safeties Coach

Coach Blanck has been with Center Grove football for 16 years and has coached for a total of 47 years, including as a graduate assistant at Purdue University and as a varsity high school coach at Shelbyville, Martinsville, North Vermillion, Bishop Chatard, Lake Wales (Florida), Monrovia and Decatur Central. He is a member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association. He currently teaches Social Studies at Monrovia High School. He and his wife of 38 years, Gail, have two children – Kyle, age 35 and Allison, age 32. They also have 4 grandchildren. Outside of coaching, he enjoys strength training and participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

 


Daniel Weems, Sr., Varsity Offensive Quality Control Coach

Coach Weems is entering his 6th year coaching at CGHS. Prior to that, he coached 2 years at CG Middle School Central. He is currently a School Counselor at CGHS. He attended Western New Mexico University where he played Running Back. He and his wife Julia have 5 children, L.J., Daniel, Jeremy, Julianna and Julian. When he is not coaching or teaching, he enjoys music. He is also the Pastor at Abundant Faith Missionary Baptist Church.


Brandon Painter, Freshman Head Coach

Coach Painter is the Freshman Head Coach. This will be his seventh year coaching at CGHS. He previously coached for 11 years, including 9 years as Head Coach at Center Grove Middle School Central.   In addition, Coach Painter is the Head Track Coach at CG Middle School Central.  He is also an 8th Grade teacher at CG Middle School Central. He is a 2002 graduate of CGHS and played baseball at IU Southeast. He and his high school sweetheart wife, Stacie, have three children – Mollie (14), Macie (12) and Nolen, (10). Coach Painter also coaches Boy's Track at CG Middle School Central who finished as the 2021 Boys Track Middle School State Champions.  Coach Painter enjoys working around his house and golfing (when he can find the time).

Matt Adams, Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Adams is in his 14th year coaching football. He has spent those past 14 years coaching the CGHS Freshman team. Coach Adams is 2009 CGHS graduate where he played football and wrestled.  He was a running back on the 2008 Football State Championship Team.   Coach Adams graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He currently works at IU Health as a Lead Senior Financial Analyst.  He is married to wife Sara and they have a son, Cameron, and daughter, Samantha . In his free time he enjoys golf and spending time with family.

 


Adam Lutgring, Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Adam Lutgring is in his 3rd year coaching football for the CGHS Freshman team. Coach Lutgring grew up around Center Grove football through the Bantam Football League, Junior Trojans, Middle School North, and CGHS. Coach Lutgring was a linebacker through his football career and graduated from Center Grove High School in 2015. Adam attended the University of Indianapolis and is currently a career fire fighter for the City of Lawrence. He is married to Maria, who is also a Center Grove graduate. In his free time he enjoys remodeling his home and spending time with friends and family. 


JOHN SUMMERS, Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Summers is entering his 4th year coaching at CGHS.   He previously coached for 15 years at Center Grove Middle School North as a head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.  He and his wife Amy currently operate AJS appraising a residential appraisal company.  When not coaching or working he enjoys watching racing and spending time with friends. 

 

GAVIN EVERETT, Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Gavin Everett is in his 2nd year coaching the CGHS Freshman team. Coach Everett grew up in the Center Grove football community starting in bantam all the way through graduation of CGHS in 2015. He then went on to play football at Indiana University where he majored in business management. He currently owns and operates his business Everett Roofing and Restoration. In his free time he enjoys traveling with his fiancée and spending time with his family and two dogs.  

 

JOE RUSHKA, Freshman Assistant Coach

Joe Rushka is in his 2nd year coaching at Center Grove High School.  He will be coaching defensive backs on the freshmen team this season.  He grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Cathedral High School in 2012 where he played football.  He attended Ball State University for undergraduate with degree in Journalism & Telecommunications in 2015, while completing his graduate degree in Secondary Education in 2021.  His tries to live out the mantra of God, family, football.  Hobbies include spending time with family & friends and all things football related.
